Volunteer Guardianship Program
Serving Tuscarawas County, Ohio residents
When a person is unable to care for himself/herself or make sound decisions, a guardianship may be required. A guardianship is a court ordered relationship in which the guardian acts on behalf of the individual who becomes a ward. FLC assists family members or volunteers through the legal process of establishing a guardianship.
Partner
- The Full Life Center, Inc. (FLC) – Works with family members and/or the volunteer to establish a guardianship for the incompetent person.
- Incompetent Individual – The person who is unable to care for himself/herself or make sound decisions.
- Community – Any organization or person whose actions are on behalf of the incompetent individual. Can be: Nursing Home, Care Giver, Medical Facility, Family Member, Volunteer.
Establish
- A community member requests a guardianship be established.
- FLC assists families and volunteers with legal filings to establish and maintain the guardianship. The guardianship may be for:
CAN BE BOTH
Estate Only: The guardian controls the financial assets of the incompetent individual.
Person Only: The guardian assures the personal needs of the incompetent individual are met, including medical and housing.

Educate
- FLC ensures volunteers feel empowered and well educated to properly perform their duties and responsibilities.
- Volunteers/family members understand the needs of the incompetent individual and keep clear and concise records of their interactions.
- Volunteers have access to advanced supportive services to help facilitate decisions.
